Gov. Wike: Most Sort After Political Beautiful Bride Of Our Time

By By Victor Enyinnaya on July 18, 2022

You see, there is nothing wrong with Nigeria as a nation or her people, rather some of her leaders are to be blamed. As legendary novelist and intellectual, Ola Rotimi titled his national best seller novel “The god’s Are Not To Blame” said it all, and most of what he said in the novel many decades back is exactly what is happening in Nigeria today.

Ask many literary students who read that classic, they will readily tell you without looking back the author saw the future especially from today’s Nigeria.

In Nigeria since the advent of Buhari/APC government used mainly prejudice, ethnicity, propaganda and sundry and came to power in 2015, Nigerians have seen the logjam they have found themselves in all facets to seven years plus.

Nigeria is today down the hill. It is story for next edition.  Nigerians have seen with their eyes since this regime led by Buhari came into power.

It is instructive to note here that as Buhari/APC failed in the federal level so applied to the states which they control.

In this article, we will strictly look at the impact of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has to his people and their well beings for seven years plus he has been on the saddle.

Yes, without much ado, Governor Wike is a dynamic servant leader. He does not pretend when to call a spade by its name.

This assertion is true that even his most critics have come to term with his acumen and described him as workaholic par excellence. To be honest with you, he has touched wholeheartedly every facet of alleviating the sufferings of his people by prompt provision of amenities.

If you have visited the Garden City State recently, you will without any hesitation agree with this columnist that the action packed Governor remains a true promise keeper.

Let me say without being immodest, this article is strictly written via a well researched work spanned over two Months and not just a flash on the pan kind of.

While this article will touch slightly on the political aspect of the Governor as politics can never be divorced from sports, football in particular.

Governor Wike has given his all to play politics of principle. He has shown exemplary politics in the present Nigerian politician, he never take delight to betray his party therefore, throwing integrity and loyalty to the wind.  But this man, Governor Wike Ezenwo Wike has sustained his allegiance with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP even though many people from other parties are steadily luring him to leave the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. But he has promised never to fight the PDP and I believe it will be so.

He has shown great good will for the party and after long hard work he became a symbol and beacon of inestimable value to both the youths and his peers across the country.

Recall that many party people left the party in doves run up to 2015 election to the then newly formed APC, which have proved to become the worst thing that happened to Nigerian political space and governance, since the country gained independence in October 1, 1960.  APC finally broke the record it set by shooting itself on the foot, leaving the country worse than it met it in all ramifications.

When this party with her leaders took over, its first master stroke mission and strategy was to drive the opposition under and that was PDP.

True to it, PDP leaders went under. To belong to PDP became a crime. APC nearly succeeded in that strategy but the resilience of Governor Wike was the magic the PDP needed to be alive till date.  He fought doggedly with very few others to keep the party alive.

We all are witnesses to how he single handedly fought Ali Modu Sheriff to standstill and drove him out of the PDP, the North East politician and former Governor came sniff life off by becoming mole in the opposition party as national chairman. The others are now history.

However recent events have shown that the party has been unfair to their number one party man and first rate loyalist. He is aggrieved for every good reason. As party campaigns will soon begin in earnest,

PDP owes him depth attention because with his frontline role, they will not find it easy if they make the mistake to allow other parties to take him, there may not be stronger and vibrant PDP to come back to contest election on its platform.

One of the great attributes of Governor Nysom Ezenwo Wike is that he does not pretend to be for you while he is not. He is straight forward and great political strategist and thinker. He created that niche for himself little wonder therefore his home became Mecca of sort for politicians who want him switch over to their parties.

Wike as a traditional PDP has received and played along with them but his body language tells he has PDP DNA boldly in his blood. The last visitors APC governors and blackleg, one former governor, a mischievous man to the core was in that entourage. PDP lost a recent guber election due largely to his politics of what the stomach will eat. His overzealousness in that South West State politics as it concerns PDP must be critically reviewed by the party’s high command. The earlier he is given the back bench the best for the party in that State and in general.  I digress.

His attachment with governor Wike as a hang on remains a bad omen. It is known fact that Governor Wike has not only the capacity but also the clout to move and turn things around in any endeavour he focuses on.  An enviable asset and so any direction he goes attract great harvest hence, this scramble by political parties to have his hand of fellowship.

I remembered the presence of Governors at the just concluded off season election in Osun State.

It was a replica of the last Edo State where Gov. Wike played a pivotal role which floored APC and her then infant terrible former national chairman, Adams Oshomole. Wike forced him to eat his words in Edo State.

I’m glad to note that Governor Diri of Bayelsa State, Gov. Obaseki of Edo State and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki stayed back after their very colourful mega rally two days to the election to give the Governor elect, Ademola Adeleke moral boast. It paid off handsomely. Osun election is the kind of battle Gov. Wike likes to partake in, leading from front.

What is paramount here is that PDP won the election. Those governors who are sitting around Gov. Wike should speak the truth. For Seyi Makinde, a leader of the party in South West it was a disservice. Governor is a no nonsense man. He does not sit on the fence because he knows that sitting on the fence remains no solution to any problem.

They should leave Gov. Wike alone and go back to their respective States and guide frontally against the threatening invaders. Lat line: Ayo Fayose they are jumping here and there with or against PDP has nothing at stake. He has lost his State, Ekiti to APC in election which PDP stood great chance to win like in Osun.

My appeal here is that Governor Wike as a party man should listen to the voice of reason and make up with the party he helped in no smaller measure to sustain till this day. His past and present efforts to keep this alive will amount to nothingness if PDP did not win the Presidential election come February 2023. He should out of his deep love for the party which he has publicly confessed to let go for the sake of PDP. Like a great sports man he should hear the voice of reason to spare his love in life of PDP.

He has a leading role to play in PDP controlled federal government come 2023. I have watched everyone frowned at the way and manner the PDP treated him and also appealed that he listens to them and reunite and close ranks and work for the party for the all important 2023 polls.

It will be spectacularly great to see Governor Wike fully resume his great stride again in the PDP. This newspaper has not hidden her admiration for his great works. Sports and other sectors have seen life and the citizens of Rivers State are in deep love for him and his great works.

To crown it all, he has joyfully handed over the trophy to Rivers United FC, a dream come true! His legacies would not be easily surpassed by future governors.

We will keep our eyes on the ball. Keep shooting hard till next week. Meanwhile, we wait!!
