The Super Falcons of Nigeria have bounced back after they defeated Botswana in the ongoing Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2-0 on Thursday.
The Nigerian side had lost 1-2 to the Bayana Bayana of South Africa in their opening match of the tournament.
The Falcons knew they needed a victory against Botswana, as a loss would mean they crash out of the tournament.
The Nigerian side opened scoring at the match played in Rabat, through Ifeoma Onumonu on 22 minutes. She easily tapped the ball in from close range.
Nigerian goalkeeper, Nnadozie Chiamaka made a super save on 32 minutes to deny Botswana from equalising.
She pulled another save on 38 minutes to keep the Super Falcons in the lead.
The Falcons made it 2-0 on 47 minutes.
Christy Ucheibe headed the ball home to double Nigeria’s lead on her WAFCON debut after just a minute of introduction.
Ucheibe almost got another goal for Nigeria on 52 minutes inside the area but fired wide.
