Abraham Happy At Roma Amid Man United, Arsenal Talk

By Daily Sports Nigeria on June 21, 2022

Roma forward Tammy Abraham is reportedly happy in Italy amid suggestions that Manchester United and Arsenal both want to sign him during this summer’s transfer window.

The England international impressed for his Italian club during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring 26 times in 52 appearances in all competitions, in addition to contributing five assists.

Abraham found the back of the net on 17 occasions in Serie A, while he also scored eight times in 12 UEFA Conference League games to help fire Jose Mourinho’s side to the trophy.

Man United and Arsenal are both in the market for new forwards this summer, and it has been claimed that the pair are exploring the possibility of signing the 24-year-old.

However, according to Corriere dello Sport, Abraham is pleased with life in Italy and is not looking to return to the Premier League at this stage of his career.

Chelsea is believed to have a buy-back clause of €80m (£66.7m) on Abraham, although the Blues cannot activate it until next summer.

The Englishman scored 30 times and registered 12 assists in 82 appearances for the English giants before moving to Roma in search of regular action.

Abraham still has more than four years left to run on his contract in Rome, and it is believed that the Serie A outfit have no intention of letting him leave in the current market.

Man United had been strongly linked with Benfica forward Darwin Nunez before the Uruguay international agreed to join Liverpool in a big-money deal.

Meanwhile, Erling Braut Haaland was believed to be a target for the 20-time English champions, but Manchester City ultimately won the race to sign him from Borussia Dortmund.

Edinson Cavani’s departure on a free transfer has left the Red Devils short of options in the final third of the field, but Anthony Martial is heading back to the club following a loan spell at Sevilla.

Man United have also been credited with an interest in Porto’s Evanilson, allegedly having an offer turned down for the Brazilian.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are thought to be working to sign Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City, but Tottenham Hotspur could yet secure his signature ahead of their North London rivals.

Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have both left the Emirates Stadium this year, although Eddie Nketiah has signed a new contract at the club.

The Gunners will open their 2022-23 Premier League campaign away to Crystal Palace on August 5, while Man United will begin their season at home to Brighton & Hove Albion on August 7.
