Sierra Leone To Arrive Nigeria Today Ahead 2023 AFCON Qualifiers vs Super Eagles

By Daily Sports Nigeria on June 4, 2022

The Leone Stars of Sierra Leone will arrive Abuja today Saturday, June 4, ahead of next week’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

According to the Sierra Leone Football Association on Twitter, the players and officials will depart Conakry, Guinea, after concluding first phase of their camping.

The football body stated that the team will continue training and tactical build up ahead of the qualifier.

The match day one clash comes up inside the M.K.O. Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Thursday, June 9.

Recall the Leone Stars were grouped with the Eagles during qualifiers for the 2021 AFCON held in Cameroon.

The football minnows pulled off one of the great comebacks in African football, after cancelling a 4-0 deficit to draw 4-4 in Benin City.

In the reverse fixture in Freetown, both teams settled for a goalless and eventually qualified for the 2021 AFCON.

Meanwhile, the Eagles rounded off their United States tour with two defeats to Mexico and Ecuador.

They lost 2-1 to the Mexicans in the first friendly game in Dallas before succumbing to a 1-0 defeat to Ecuador in New Jersey.
