Gabriel Jesus’ Move To Arsenal Under Threat

By Daily Sports Nigeria on May 19, 2022

Arsenal could be left disappointed in their pursuit of Gabriel Jesus after the Gunners lost 2-0 to Newcastle on Monday night.

Mikel Arteta’s side knew they had to pick up a result to keep Tottenham at bay in the race for fourth spot. But an own goal from Ben White, and Bruno Guimaraes’ 85th-minute finish, gave Newcastle the victory at St James’ Park.

The defeat for Arsenal also put Tottenham in pole position to qualify for next season’s Champions League, at Arsenal’s expense.

Spurs just need to draw with already-relegated Norwich on the final day thanks to their superior goal difference. Arsenal, in contrast, need to overcome Everton and hope Norwich manage to stun Spurs.

Arsenal is seen as the leading suitors to land Jesus from Manchester City this summer. The Brazi international is in line to leave the Etihad, with Erling Haaland set to join City and replace him.

Bringing Jesus to north London would be a good move for Arteta and Arsenal. He would be an effective replacement for Alexandre Lacazette at centre forward.

But The Sun has given an update on Jesus’ future, and it is worrying reading for Arsenal supporters.

It suggests Arsenal’s lack of UCL football next season could prove costly in the hunt for Jesus.

Jesus and his representatives like the idea of joining Arteta’s project at the Emirates. Plus, Arsenal already has Jesus’ compatriots Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli in their ranks.
