2021 Super Eagles invitee, Michael Olise will not play again this season according to Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira.
The France U21 international of Nigerian and Algerian descent was surprisingly omitted from the matchday squad of the Eagles in their 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on Sunday.
And it has come to light that Olise was not at the disposal of Vieira after suffering a relapse to his injury.
The former Chelsea schoolboy sustained a foot injury whilst on international duty with France U21s in March but was able to recover for the semifinal of the FA Cup against his old club on April 17.
In quotes relayed by Football London, Vieira told reporters at the post-match press conference: “Michael was injured. He had a step back and he’s not going to play again this season.”
Olise will miss Crystal Palace’s final two games of the season against Everton and Manchester United.
The 20-year-old will end his season with 31 games under his belt and was involved in twelve goals (4 goals, 8 assists).
