Super Eagles Chief Coach, Emmanuel Amuneke has expressed delight on the potency of the attackers invited for the upcoming World Cup 2022 play-off against Ghana in Kumasi this week.
According to him, the coaches are working round the clock to ensure that right thing would be done as the count down for the crucial World Cup 2022 play-off against Ghana’s Black Stars in Kumasi.
“The lads invited as our attackers no doubt are sharp and firm. The boys are doing well in their respective clubs and one believes they will replicate such as the D-day for the all important game draws nearer. When I remember the caliber of lads in our attacking line it really excites me. The coaches will ensure thing are done the right way so as to get the needed great result on the road,” he said.
The former Africa Footballer of the Year described the assignment in Ghana as one national duty that would be diligently done and the crew led by Austin Eguaveon is not looking back. The task is real and the burden of rivalry that has existed between both countries over these decades would be rekindled and the Super Eagles players and the technical crew are aware and not leaving anything for chance.
“It won’t be a work over game. The stakes are high. The teams are eager to pick the sole ticket from the set up. Such scenario has made the match more complicated however; the Nigerians are equal to the task. The instruction in everyone’s lip is that Nigeria wants to fly her flag among the participating and competing countries in November in Qatar. It is a huge task which must be calmly resolved,” he observes.
Meanwhile former Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Ayiegbeni has emphatically said that Nigeria will pick the play –off ticket over Ghana.
He said the players on the roll call of the Super Eagles are doing well in their respective clubs and no doubt the confidence amongst them would go along way to propel them into more action as the team confronts arch rivals, the Black Stars of Ghana in the first leg game in Kumasi.
“I’m seeing beyond Ghana denying Nigeria this yet another opportunity to World Cup 2022 in Qatar. The Nigeria team has quality players than their Ghanaian counterparties’ and once the right selection is done the Super Eagles would be good to go,” Ayiegbeni emphasized.
He advised against compliancy and say the best way to go would be to go straight into confrontation against their day’s opponent right there in their home ground. He added that the Super Eagles team has the capacity.
“I trust that both Eguaveon and Amuneke won’t give the Black Star room to operate as they will go straight to the offensive immediately the referee signals the kick-off of the game. One aware of how difficult this kind of game could be however, with the kind of quality players in the Eagles line up, the crew would know how best to approach the match in order to get the desired result on the road,” he counseled.
He pointed out that the NFF has done enough to ensure that the team would not lack or be intimidated therefore there is nothing that would hinder the squad from optimum performance.
