Former Super Eagles midfielder and 1980 Africa Cup of Nations youngest player, Henry Nwosu (MON) has thumbed up the efforts of Sports Minister, Sunday Dare and NFF President, Amaju Pinnick on their efforts to bring back the players of the national team back strongly to face squarely the Ghana Black Stars in next Month’s Qatar 2022 World Cup play-off that would determine who picks the ticket to join others African representatives in the November global football showpiece.
Nwosu who spoke to Daily Sports via an exclusive telephone conversation from his Naze country home in Imo State confessed that what these two leading stakeholders have displayed so far in their bid to instill more confidence on the players showed patriotism and commitment to this all important national assignment ahead.
He further emphasized that for a very long time this kind of one spirit towards achieving one goal existed in the national team pointing out that their zeal to ensure the players and coaches have deep sense of responsibility remains exemplary and way to go. In short both have shown enough leadership by leading from front so far this issue of organising how the Super Eagles team would resurge and face Ghana decisively.
“One must commend their resolute spirit and I believe it will go a long way to help the concentration level of the players. To put icing on the cake the two leading football stakeholders were one on one with the players Amaju physically with them in London and Dare on zoom interactive session where vital issues may have been raised and assurances discussed all for the crucial game against arch rivals, Ghana.
We knew it will not be an easy game for the two countries but the fact remains that any of them that got it right from the first leg would carry the day after the closing second leg in Abuja Nigeria three day after the first leg in Ghana,” he said
The former defunct New Nigeria Bank FC of Benin however was confident that even the duo of Eguaveon and Amuneke further impetus presently due to the round of the clock workings and discussions with the players. The injection of new players and the ones that did not participate at the recently concluded AFCON due to one reason or the other would be ready against Ghana challenge is heart warming and one prays such be to the advantage of Nigeria at the end of the day.
HE REVEALED THAT AS Nigeria is not leaving anything for chance so also Ghana who has also hired new technical hand and invited some other strong leg all in their bid to fortify their squad against Nigeria. It won’t be a tea party and so the Nigerian team must be extra vigilant.
