Remo Stars maintained top spot in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after defeating Wikki Tourists 2-1 in sixth round of games on Sunday, Completesports.com reports.
Remo are yet to taste defeat after six games in the ongoing league campaign and are in 14 points.
The visitors raced to a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Dayo Ojo and Abdullahi Oyedele before Adamu Salisu pulled a goal back for Wikki.
Ojo opened scoring in the 10th minute before Oyedele made it 2-0 on 63 minutes
With 15 minutes left in the game Wikki got what was a consolation goal through Salisu as Remo held on for the win.
t the Yakubu Gowon stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers United thrashed Kwara United 3-0, which takes them to second spot, just two points off leaders Remo.
Goals from Nyima Nwangwa (32 minutes), Rafiu Kayode (penalty, 51 minutes) and Chidiebude Duru (55 minutes), sealed the comfortable win for Rivers United.
And in Enugu, Rangers saw off MFM 2-0 thanks to strikes from Tope Olusesi and Martin Ossy from the penalty spot.
The win saw Rangers climb to third place on 11 points in the league standing.
And in other fixtures played on Sunday, Plateau United walloped Dakkada 5-0, Abia Warriors pipped Heartland 1-0, Kano Pillars defeated Niger Tornadoes 1-0, Enyimba held Gombe to a 0-0 draw away, Nasarawa Pipped Lobi 2-1 while Sunshine held Shooting Stars to a 2-2 draw away. (Complete Sports)
