Bendel Insurance arrive Sagamu, settle down for business

By Anthony Obaseki, Sagamu on January 20, 2019

Newly promoted Bendel Insurance FC of Benin arrived Sagamu Saturday and settled down for business.

The team had a feel of the pitch ahead of the game today, Sunday, January 20, 2019, against equally newly promoted Remo Stars in the NPFL league Week 3.

The Obaseki boys, as the team is fondly called by their fans, are having their first game in the top flight league after the team’s promotion. Their weeks 1 and 2 matches were postponed for all the promoted teams to rest and prepare for the league.

Both teams are not new to each other but this is the first time they are meeting in this cadre of the league.

The Benin Arsenal are back to the premier league after 11 years in NNL league.

The team’s most expensive player – the State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu – could not travel with the team, but he was part of the squad in Aba during the Super 8 from which they gained promotion.

Skipper Omokaro insists they are in Sagamu to pick at least a point and register their presence in the NPFL league.

“Remo Stars is a good side. We are not going to underrate them but play them and get our point,” Omokaro says.
