Arsenal Were Robbed Against Man City — Lokonga

By Nelson Dafe on January 2, 2022

Arsenal young midfielder Albert Lokonga has claimed that his team were robbed in their 1-2 loss at their Emirates stadium home against Manchester City on New Year’s day.

The Gunners saw a first half lead lost in 5 chaotic minutes in the second half as Bernardo Silva was adjudged by center referee Stuart Atwell to have been pulled by Granite Xakha in the Arsenal box and subsequently awarded a penalty which Riyad Mahrez scored to equalize for City.

Arsenal had a penalty appeal controversially denied in the first half when Martin Odegaard appeared to have been fouled by City goalkeeper Ederson.

Man City were handed a massive advantage when defender Gabriel was sent off for a second bookable offense and City scored late in Injury time through midfielder Rodri.

Lokonga, like the rest of his team, felt bitter with the result of the game in which Arsenal had been clearly the better side for a large part of the game and wrote on his Facebook page: “3 points robbed.” The Belgian international followed with a crying emoji and two ‘broken heart’ emojis.
