Nigeria Players Union mourns Keshi

By Daily Sports on June 9, 2016

The Nigeria Players Union, National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers (NANPF) says it received “with rude shock” the news of the sudden death, on Wednesday morning, of former Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi.

A statement issued by NANPF shortly after the break of the shocking news and signed by the General Secretary Austin Popo, said: “Nigeria Players under the auspices of the Nigeria Players Union express their heartfelt condolence to the Nigeria Football Federation and the family of the late Stephen Keshi. It is unfortunate that our late colleague, friend and coach could not survive the ordeal of his wife’s death just last year.

“We take solace bearing in mind of late Stephen Keshi’s impact on Nigeria football and his immediate constituency during his short stay on earth. We pray God to give his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. The union will announce other details after due consultation with the NFF and his family.”
