Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side El Kanemi Warriors have added eight key players to their work force for the second stanza of the on-going top-flight.
The players are made up of two midfielders, two defensive midfielders, two attackers, a winger and a left fullback.
The additions are experienced midfielder and Nigeria beach soccer player Isiaka Olawale (Giwa FC), John Aguda (Lobi Stars), Kingsley Youwei (Sharks), Obinna Aguocha (Orlu United), Bamai Bukar (ex-player and captain), Usman Malika (El Kanemi Babes), Odeyemi Ebenezer (Enyimba) and Lukman Abdulkarim (FC IfeanyiUbah).
An official of the Maiduguri Warriors, Anthony Obaseki said the eight players will be unveiled in the side NPFL matchday 22 home clash against Abia Warriors.
“We have signed eight new players to strengthen our campaign for honour in the second stanza of the on-going top-flight.
“The management wants competitive performance from the side hence the need to further beef up the team in the area they are lacking the required bite.
“The players are made up of two midfielders, two defensive midfielders, two attackers, a winger and a left full-back to complement other tested players in the squad.
“However, none of the new players will make their debut in the midweek matchday 21 clash at Wikki Tourists.
“The secretary was unable to secure their working papers but that would have been done before our home match against Abia Warriors.
“We hope to unveil the whole players in that match against Abia Warriors and sure some of them will take active role in the clash.
“Certainly, some players will be asked to look elsewhere for greener pastures,” said Obaseki to supersport.com.
El Kanemi Warriors gained a comfortable 2-0 win against Warri Wolves in matchday 20 to take their points haul to 25 from possible 57 points.
