No fewer than 100 clubs are billed to participate in Gov. Bala Mohammed’s football competition tagged: “Kaura Cup 2021.”
Mr Haruna Bako, Managing Director, Bakos Consult, organisers of the competition, stated this at presentation of the trophy for the tournament on Wednesday in Bauchi.
Bako said that about 100 football clubs had so far registered for the competition across the 20 local government areas of the state.
He said the day slated for the competition would soon be announced for proper preparations, saying, “we need only moral support from the government.”
He commended the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Ibrahim Hashim, for his foresight in donating the trophy, adding that the gesture would promote youth participation in sports.
The Manager assured that the competition would be keenly contested and level playing field would be provided to all the participating clubs.
In his remarks, Hashim said the gesture was aimed at promoting sports development at the grassroots.
According to him, sports plays important role in the promotion of unity, solidarity and encourage productivity as well as eliminate idleness and redunduncy among the youths.
He reiterated government commitment to the provision of infrastructure to fast track sports development through procurement of sporting kits, training of players and release of funds for sporting activities.
“Sports is one of the lucrative ventures which generate employment, revenue and promotes healthy living among the players,” he said.
He said the competition was named after governor in view recognition of his penchant for sports development in the state. (NAN)
