The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) on Thursday invited 14 players of the national under 19 and under 21 teams to an open camp in Kaduna State on Friday.

The Chairman, Media and Publicity of NVBF, Famous Daunemigha told journalists in Abuja that the invited players would begin camping in Kaduna state from Nov.5 to Dec. 5 under the supervision of John Iwerima, the Head Coach and Christy Amadi, the Assistant Coach.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Nigeria will be participating in the 2021 Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) U-19 Qualifiers and U- 21 Beach Volleyball Championship in Phuket, Thailand from Dec.6 to Dec. 19

Daunemigha said the players were selected after assessment by the board members in the technical committee and following their performances at their various last outings.

“A total of 14 players have been invited to camp ahead of the 2021 FIVB age group of under 19 Qualifiers and under 21 Beach Volleyball in Thailand.

“We invited six under 21 boys, four under 21 girls and four under 19 girls.

“The board believes this is an opportunity to breed new set of beach volleyball national team players.

“If you look critically at the senior beach volleyball team, you will discover that some of these players also attended some international beach volleyball tournaments.

“This is an avenue to expose these younger players to different playing facility and equipment,” Daunemigha said.
