Egypt captain Mohamed Salah says his stunning solo goal against Manchester City would have been more special if it was the winning goal.
The 29-year-old winger netted his ninth goal of the season for Liverpool FC as they were held to a 2-2 draw by City in an English Premier League match on Sunday.
Salah dribbled past several City defenders, before firing past goalkeeper Ederson with his weaker right foot in an enthralling encounter at Anfield.
“I have to watch it to see. I do remember it. It would be more special if it won the game,” Salah told the club’s official website.
“But it is what it is. It’s the result. I think it’s a good goal, nothing much to say.”
Prior to scoring, Salah had set up Senegalese star Sadio Mane, who opened the scoring for the Reds against the reigning Premier League champions.
The former AS Roma star felt that it was a fair result which left Liverpool second on the league standings.
“Yeah, I have to be fair – yeah, I think they created a lot of chances, they keep the ball a lot,” he added.
“So I wish I would say no, but it’s fair to say yes. They had a lot of chances and a draw is a good result for both.”
Liverpool’s next match will be against Watford in a Premier League encounter on October 16. (African Football)
