Finidi George, the newly appointed coach of Enyimba International of Aba, has expressed confidence of getting over Diambars De Saly FC of Senegal when both sides clash in the CAF Confederation Cup in Saly. Both sides will go head-to-head on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Stade Fodé Wade in Saly.
While Enyimba were drawn by in the first round, Diambers saw off challenge from Guinean side, Wakirya, 3-0 aggregate to set up a clash with the two times African champions.
Speaking moments after the Peoples Elephants were held to a scoreless draw by Bayelsa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa on Saturday in a tune up game, the coach said he was happy with the build-up and the commitment of the players, however, pointing out that there were some grey areas that would be touched before the match against the Senegalese.
“We are getting ready for them but I know we still have some areas to touch on the team before we travel for the match (against Diambers).
“The players are responding and their level of commitment is ok. I am sure we are going to make the fans and all Nigerians proud in the game and come back home to finish it,” he said.
Enyimba are two times winners of the CAF Champions League and, in the last two seasons, have made it to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup. (Daily Independent)
