Ebenezer Morakinyo, member of the Caretaker Committee of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), on Tuesday said the 2021 Nigeria Volleyball Premier League would begin on Monday.
Morakinyo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the league’s first phase would take place from Monday to July 18 at the University of Ilorin Sports Complex in Ilorin, Kwara.
He stated that the number of participating teams would however be ascertained on the day of arrival for the teams.
“The NVBF is very much prepared and has secured the venue for the first phase.
“So far, not all the teams have indicated interest but we believe by the time the arrival date comes all the teams will converge in Ilorin.
“The Premier League teams ought to be 10 and we know they will all participate in the league.”
Morakinyo said volleyball fans should expect explosive action and high level of volleyball when the Premier League gets underway.
“Nigerians should expect a good display of volleyball, knowing the calibre of teams participating in the first phase.
“It is going to be of high standard and the spectators will enjoy every minute of the games.”
NAN reports that a total of 20 teams are expected to participate in the league, made up of 10 male and 10 female teams. (NAN)
