My boys were good, but they can be better —Ilechukwu (MFM 2 Niger Tornadoes 0)

By Adeyinka Akintunde, Lagos on May 16, 2016

Coach of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Football Club (MFM FC), Fidelis Ilechukwu, has praised his boys for a good game against visiting Niger Tornadoes played early this morning, at the Agege Stadium Lagos. He said the Niger Tornadoes side, though they lost the Nigeria Professional League (NPFL) game by two unreplied goals, also gave a good account of themselves. Ilechukwu readily admitted that admitted that there are lapses that his team would need to really work upon to become a better side.

When asked about the way MFM FC have performed excellently on home soil, but failed to replicate that form on away grounds, he said that a lot of things happen, “but we have to move on with our life. The League Management Committee (LMC) have done very much to improve the League, but there may be some bias from some persons, to do some things.”

Ilechukwu believes that “we need to sign some other players to complement with what we have in our team, as a matter of necessity.”

After a downpour prevented the game from holding on Sunday, the Olukoya Boys got the game settled in the first half of the encounter through Niger Tornadoes’ Abiodun Adebayo, who diverted the ball into his own net in the 26th minute. Stephen Odey increased thetally in the 45th minute with his seventh goal of the season.

The win now places MFM FC to the eighth place on the table, with 26 points from 17 matches.
