Abia Warriors defeated Giwa FC 1-0 on Saturday evening to dethrone Enugu Rangers as Nigeria Professional Football League leaders.
Having shunned their last two games, Giwa FC came to the Umuahia Township Stadium to revive their fading season plus break the plague against Abia Warriors but they were unable to score against goalkeeper Chinedu Anozie.
Uche Ihuaralam’s 38th minute strike handed Kennedy Boboye’s men the maximum points which also saw them maintain their perfect record at home this season.
The forward rushed in to head home Valentine Nwabili’s cross within six yards to bringing an intriguing first half to an end.
Coach Kennedy Boboye’s men have been impressive this season losing just once in 14 league games, and yet to lose a point at home.
With the win, the Umuahia lords now boast of 27 points and a massive goal difference, three ahead of Enugu Rangers.
And a victory for the Flying Antelopes against Shooting Stars on Sunday will see them assume leadership position again. (Goal.com)
