Edo 2020 National Sports Festival, Enyimba And Onuachu's Daring Message

By Daily sports on April 5, 2021

Dear readers you can vividly bear me out of my stout opposition to the fraud the Sports Ministry wants to use the honestly conceived, bided and won Edo National Sports Festival which the State government never put nobody in any doubt of her readiness to host but for the pandemic Covid-19 that took its toll around the global it suffered many postponements which the state government came up again to announce her inability to continue with the Sports Festival due to the effects occasioned by the ravaging coronavirus which has eaten deep into the pocket of the State government who are neck deep in ensuring that it will use what it has to be running and providing services to the great people of Edo State.

Let me make myself more clear that the columnist is never against National Sports Festival in any form because traditionally it used to be another avenue to discover new talents, however, the necked truth remains that it is not normal times and so the festival would have been staged in future but of fraud of the Sports Ministry and its accomplice in other arms of government except the Judiciary will never let go because of financial gains.

The corruption that has been the order of the day again would rob the nation huge amount of money into private pockets in the name of National Sports Festival.

I have for long developed thick skin on the way and matter this Buhari/ APC government carried out governance since 2015 and corruption has hit all time high without the government having any cogent explanation to Nigerian sadly propaganda and bulk passing have been order the day.

Let me congratulate Enyimba International FC for her Confederation Cup win over dreaded ES Setif of Algeria coming from behind to turn back the hardworking visitors that never hid their intention to beat the homers.

However that goal was the bitter tonic that woke Enyimba to realities hence it out from its slumber gamely and gave out the slim soccer line. I have not hidden my call to coach Lukman Osho the need to always sound it loud and clear to his lads that no game should be taken for granted from the opening minutes to the last blast of the referees whistles, one thought that aspect of levity to important football matches would have been thing of the past and bitter lesson learnt as such approaches have cost the side game they ought to have either won or drawn in the past in NPFL and CAF Champs League.

It remains one grey area the young but f developing depth Aba based team must work assiduously on because the CAF Confederation Cup has first sides and every point matters at this point with two wins and one loss having two away games in Algeria and where ever the Libya side adopted as home meant extra hard work if the Nigerian representative hopes to move on in the championship by qualifying from the group A.

The stage remains dicey and hard work, vigilance, focus, calculative approach to matches would play leading role in the current campaign no more, no less. The two away games must be one the Aba team would grab vital points on the run and settle scores against Orlando Pirates in Aba.

No doubt the football system in Nigeria is polluted and makes no mistake about it the rot continues unabated and nobody cares a hoot. In short, the beat goes on.

This week I will not go back on the merits or otherwise of the need for the Rohr led Eagles technical crew to ensure the lad’s inclusion in the national team’s line up henceforth. One won’t also fail to mention the lameduck excuse always presented by Rohr on Paul Onuachu’s style of play. Now that the Nigeria has qualified for next Year’s AFCON all hands must be on deck for the country to get it right in Cameroun in Africa’s apex football summit in the forthcoming edition.

All hands must be on deck and Eagles technical crew led by Gernot Rohr must not give excuses every Nigerian player that would make the difference must be given chance to lace his boots for the country not silly excuses has become the lot of Rohr.

We have seen how Paul Onuachu the rejected stone became the one the builders sort after. How he played in the game against Benin Republic and it is public knowledge the lame duck excuses of Rohr on the red hot Onuachu and it is like that to other great players Rohr has down played anything about them and their exploits on the field of play.

Paul Onuachu is a potential player with great physique and skills. He is a first material in the Eagles and all the positives that would make Nigeria come out tops in the forthcoming AFCON must be harnessed conclusively.  My take remains that there are other Paul Onuachu’s that does not have spokesperson(s) that push their cause. When you are in a rotten set up like Nigeria this is one of the nasty experiences that crops up.  Let sanity return back to Eagles invitation or call up pattern cum selection. Let there be a stop to these nonsense tricks currently going on in the team.

The story of corruption in Nigeria sports football being culprit in chief should better be imagined than described, assurance is that we will continue to draw attention though it never stop those involved from redoubling their looting spree.

Let’s discuss more on our social media handles till next week keep shooting hard as the struggle continues!!
