The National Secretariat of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) located at Barracks Bus Stop, Surulere, Lagos, was thrown into mourning over the weekend as members of the pioneer Supporters Club confirmed the untimely death of veteran coach Kashimawo Laloko.
NFSC National Chairman, Reverend Samuel O. Ikpea, said that news of Laloko’s death came as a rude shock to them as they were celebrating the return of Super Eagles to Lagos before the sad news filtered in from Abeokuta, neighbouring Ogun State.
A visibly sad Ikpea said that Laloko meant a lot to Nigerian football even before he became Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
He said that several supporters appreciated Laloko’s technical savvy and invaluable contributions to the nation’s football, adding that they would miss him because the famous Pepsi Football Academy he founder is like a father and friend to NFSC.
“For us we have lost a powerful figure in our football. Laloko to us was a no-nonsense Coach/Administrator. He never compromised on hard work and discipline. We had excellent relationship – from Stationary Stores FC, Super Eagles, Pepsi Academy, etc, it’s been same mutual respect. We at Nigeria Football Supporters Club will miss the tireless Laloko that was buried Monday in his Gbonagun, Abeokuta home. May God give the family and all of us the fortitude to bear the huge loss,” the Edo State-born NFSC National Chairman said.
