De Conde: Genk Set To Sell Red-hot Onuachu

By Daily sports on March 23, 2021

Nigeria international Paul Onuachu is most likely to leave Belgian giants KRC Genk at the end of the current season.

This is according to Genk’s technical director Dimitri De Condé, who has admitted that it is increasingly likely to sell the prolific marksman.

Onuachu has impressively hit the back of the net 27 times from 32 matches across all competitions for Genk thus far this term.

The 26-year-old hitman has been linked with Scottish giants Glasgow Celtic and French club Olympique Lyonnais.

“Paul is in great demand. He is a unique type and he scores often,” De Condé said to Eleven Sports via Voetbal Primeur.

“It is a challenge for us to keep him, but he also has an age that will make it very difficult to keep him on board.”

Onuachu, who was nurtured in the FC Ebedei academy, is reportedly valued at 17 million euros ($20,3 million) by transfer market experts.

The Owerri-born player joined Genk in 2019 from Danish champions FC Midtjylland where he had won the Danish Superliga and Danish Cup.

He has a contract with Genk until June 30, 2024 and he is part of the Nigeria squad which will face Benin and Lesotho later this month.

The Super Eagles will be away to Benin before they host Lesotho in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. (African Football)
