Regardless of who Nigeria fields against Luxembourg in their upcoming friendly the Europeans know they will be facing a stiff test.
Coach Luc Holtz knows this and is preparing his team for no cake walk. Especially after Nigeria called up all her big guns.
Yet he believes Nigeria can be hurt especially on the counter and is confident his team that features just a dozen or so full professional players, have the ability to trip the West Africans.
“In modern football, the mentality and especially, the intelligence with which decisions are takes are key” shared the coach, who once played for Luxembourg himself.
As he knows, the Nigerians still smarting from their Afcon 2017 ouster, will try to leave the gates early and secure a win for their mostly disappointed fans who are peeved to be ranked at a dismal 67 in the world and a shocking 14 in Africa.
Schnell means fast in German and one player that Holtz will be looking to help pacify the Nigerian attack will be Thomas Schnell who plays for Fola Esch. Holtz will hope that the player will live up to his name and frustrate the Eagle strikers.
Up front the team that is ranked 145th in the World, will also lean heavily on Maxime Chanot who has plays for Kortrijk after starting his career at Sheffield United in 2007. The half French player is in form and scored the equalizing goal against Buffon in their famous 1-1 draw against Italy.
Having played top notch football not just in the UK but also in France (Le Mans FC) and Belgium (White Star Woluwe FC), at above six feet he is big enough to give the Eagles back four all sorts of problems especially in the air.
The game will be played in Luxembourg on June the 1st, just five days after Nigeria also takes on Mali in France.
