Misfiring Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho has been defended by his manager at Leicester City, Brendan Rodgers.
The left-footed player failed to find the back of the net during an English Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
The encounter ended in a 0-0 draw at the Molineux Stadium where Iheanacho played 61 minutes before being replaced by Jamie Vardy.
Rodgers refused to criticize Iheanacho, who could not take his chances as the Northern Irish tactician feels that the 26-year-old gave the team everything.
“He worked hard, didn’t have too many opportunities but he gave us everything. He’s not used to playing games close together,” Rodgers was quoted as saying by BBC Leicester Sport.
Iheanacho came into the clash with Wanderers having ended his 15-game goal drought in the Premier League on February 2.
The Owerri-born player has now played 12 league matches and netted once for Leicester this season.
It remains to be seen whether Iheanacho will start when the Foxes take on Brighton Hove and Albion in the FA Cup clash on Wednesday.
He was signed by Leicester on a five-year contract on 3 August 2017 for a reported £25 million fee. (African Football)
