Barcelona will attempt to sign Manchester City defender Eric Garcia this month.
The youngster has agreed a five-year contract with his former club as his deal expires in June.
Barca, however, would prefer to sign him immediately and with personal terms settled will now attempt to strike a fee with City.
City rejected a €10m offer in October and Barca will try again after the January 24 presidential election. His pre-contract could be confirmed as early as today.
