The first match of Week 12 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) between Mountain of Fire and Miracles Football Club (MFM FC) of Lagos and Wikki Tourists of Bauchi saw the Olukoya Boys returning to winning ways at the Agege Stadium, Lagos. Stephen Odey scored the solitary goal of the match, to gift his side the maximum three points, after two winless matches.
MFM FC began the brighter side. As early as two minutes into the game, Stephen Odey created space for himself but shot over the bar.
Wikki Tourists later took control of the game, and they had a chance when Mubarak Umar controlled with his chest from Godwin Obaje’s pass and attempted a half volley which, however, went off target.
MFM’s number 10 Chukwuka Onuwa was a wonder to watch. He was busy orchestrating things throughout the game. He was found everywhere dribbling and giving good passes. He had a shot on 32 minutes but it was blocked.
On 34 minutes, MFM FC scored the first goal with Onuwa providing the assist to Musa Newman who flicked to Stephen Odey and he toe-poked it past Wikki goalkeeper Emeka Nwabulu.
The visitors began the second half as the stronger side, and it took strong defending from MFM to keep the game at 1-0. The homers would have extended the lead on 51 minutes when Onuwa picked out Sikiru Olatunbosun but his effort was tipped away by goalkeeper Nwabulu for a corner. On 72 minutes, Onuwa through a freekick found Olatunbosun, whose attempt was saved by goalkeeper Nwabulu, who towards the end of the game showed some skills with the ball, while kicking the ball out of his goal area.
