Having been prepared to leave Barca over the summer after spending last season on-loan at Bayern Munich, Coutinho is now a first-choice for coach Ronald Koeman.
And Barca have now approached Coutinho about a new contract.
Sport says Barca have requested Coutinho accept a pay-cut for this season, but with the outstanding part of his wages being added to his new deal and spread over several years.
