Falcons qualify for 2016 AWCON

Nigeria have qualified for the 2016 African Women's Cup of Nations after defeating Senegal 2-0 at the National Stadium, Abuja on Tuesday evening

The Super Falcons reached the finals of the competition courtesy of a 3-1 aggregate score.

After Asisat Oshoala's early penalty miss, the hosts struck first when Rita Chikwelu finished off a lovely pass from Francesca Ordega, thrashing a shot beyond Sengal goalkeeper Mariane Fall to register her 16th international goal.

Igbinovia Osarenoma sealed victory for Florence Omgabemi's ladies as Bassouare Diaby's laboured in vain to claw back to upstage the reigning African Queens.

Nigeria join Egypt, Kenya, Equatorial Guinea, Zimbabwe and hosts Cameroon. The remaining four teams will be decided on Tuesday amongst four teams. (goal.com)
