Obaseki’s Family Meets To Plan Burial

The family of late top sports journalist, Prince Anthony Obaseki, is expected to meet in Benin City, Edo State capital, today, Wednesday, November 4, 2020, to decide on the burial date.

The energetic and lively Obaseki died in the early hours of Sunday, November 1, 2020 at the 3H Hospital, DSC Township near Warri, Delta State.

The one-time Media Officer of top flight El-Kanemi Warriors Football Club of Maiduguri was as at the time of his death an Associate Editor with Daily Sports online newspaper, DailySportsng.com.  

Obaseki’s immediate younger brother, Isaac, who was mandated to relocate the body from Warri to Benin on Monday, said they are devastated by the untimely death of the tireless journalist.

Obaseki’s eldest son, Uyi, confirmed the family meeting of Wednesday, adding that he and his two younger sisters alongside their mother have been dealt a terrible blow. He said they would be in Benin for the family meeting even as everyone is in deep shock.

On her part, Mrs Helen Obaseki was still wailing over demise of her beloved husband as we attempted to chat with her on phone Tuesday afternoon.

“No! No!! No!!! The devil has been cruel by snatching my husband when I least expected. He was getting better while on rehabilitation in Okwagbe. Things took a dramatic turn over the weekend. For me and our three kids it’s a bitter pill to swallow. We don’t know where to start, but God surely know why He allowed this tragedy to happen,” the Delta-born wife said amidst tears.
