Drama As Anambra FA Sole Chairmanship Candidate Loses Election

By By PAMELA EBOH, Awka on October 31, 2020

The election for the chairmanship position of the Anambra Football Association (ANSFA) has been stalled following the failure of the sole candidate, Chikelue Iloeyosi, to clinch quarter of the votes cast.

Out of the 20 votes cast by the delegates, only one vote went to the candidate while 19 voted against his emergence as the next chairman to occupy the seat.

Iloenyosi emerged as the sole candidate after his opponent, Dr. Emeka Okeke, was disqualified on grounds of being the owner of a football club in the state and heading the committee set up by Nigeria Football federation (NFF) to organise the state FA election.

The issues were raised in a petition written to the electoral committee by Iloeyosi.

News Express reports that Okeke resigned from the position barely one month after it was inaugurated.

Meanwhile, Victor Aniekwena has been elected the Vice Chairman of the ANSFA board after polling a total of 20 votes as against no vote for his opponent, Chinedu Okoye.

Others elected into the board of ANSFA include Cordelia Alanna, Oliver Ndigwe and Ralph Chidozie George of SuperSport.
