Kwara United will today, Sunday, November 3, 2019 engage Sunshine Stars FC of Akure in a friendly football match at the Mainbowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin, in continuation of their build-up towards the commencement of the 2019/2020 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
This follows the postponement of the commencement of the NNL, which was earlier scheduled to begin tomorrow.
Somehow, Sunshine Stars are free this weekend despite the commencement of the 2019/2020 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), following the postponement of their fixture with Rangers International, who are involved in the CAF Confederation Cup competition.
The NNL Management had recently announced that it has extended the commencement of the 2019/2020 season by 21 days.
According to reports, the decision was taken after due consultation with stakeholders to enable certain logistics to be ready for the kick-off.
The General Manager of Kwara United FC, Bashir Badawiy, while confirming the friendly match, said that it will keep the team in tune, and also whet the appetite of Kwara football fans.
Badawiy said that apart from the Sunshine Stars’ encounter, other friendly matches are being lined up for the team, both at home and away, to further strengthen the Coach Abdullahi Biffo-led side.
Kwara United FC are expected to host Gombe United FC in Ilorin in Week One of the forthcoming NNL season.
