Niger Tornadoes left back Gabriel Wassa has said his side's midweek draw against Sunshine Stars will not stop them from picking up three points at Akwa United.
The newcomers will be the guests of Promise Keepers in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match-day 11 clash at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Tornadoes were held to 2-2 at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja by visiting Sunshine Stars on Wednesday.
Wassa, who blamed missed chances at goal for the shared spoils against the Owena Waves, said his side will make the necessary amendments for the road-trip tie at Akwa United.
“I’m not happy with the 2-2 draw against Sunshine Stars but to God be the glory that we did not lose all three points in the game.
“We were not sharp in attack and there were some defensive blunders but all that is behind us now.
“We just have to remain focused and correct our mistakes going into Sunday's clash at Akwa United in Uyo.
“I know the encounter will be very difficult given the poor result the home side posted against visiting Abia Warriors, but I’m confident we will get the right result.
“We must keep our cool and take our chances at goal. You know Akwa United lost at home to Abia Warriors so they will throw everything at us to get a win but we are ready for the challenge.
“We will definitely get the desired away points as the league progresses as well as maintain a comfortable position on the league log,” said the former Mighty Jets strongman said
The Minna outfit are in 12th position on the 20-team top flight on 11 points from a possible 30 in the 10-week old league. (supersports, com)
