Roberto Carlos: Casablanca Close To Signing Zidane

By Daily Sports on September 26, 2020

Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca are close to completing the signing of French midfielder Enzo Zidane Fernandez.

Fernandez is the eldest son of Real Madrid legend and manager Zinedine Zidane.

The 25-year-old was nurtured in the academies of Italian giants Juventus and Spanish champions Real Madrid.

Fernandez was promoted to the Madrid first team in 2016, but he could not make his competitive debut and he joined Spanish side Deportivo Alaves where he finally made his top-flight debut in 2017.

The lanky midfielder has since had spells with Swiss side Laussane Sport and Spanish clubs Rayo Majadahonda and Almeria and Portuguese outfit Aves.

His agent Roberto Carlos, who is a Brazil and Real Madrid legend, disclosed that he is working on a deal which will see Fernandez move to North Africa.

“Greetings President Naciri, it is a great pleasure for me to be able to speak with you,” Carlos said in a video.

“I hope to close the deal for Enzo Zidane, a very good player, with Wydad, a great club from Casablanca.”

Fernandez has played for Spanish and French youth national team, but he is still eligible to play for Algeria, where his paternal grandparents are from. (African Football)
