Kano Pillars Football Club have resumed training ahead of the new season after COVID-19 break.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Federal Government suspended the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and other sports in March following the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria.
A NAN correspondent who visited the club’s training site at Bukavu barracks on Tuesday, observed that all the players and management of the club complied with COVID-19 protocols.
Kano Pillars coach, Ibrahim Musa, told NAN that the preparations started with training exercise for the players last week, after partial lifting of restrictions on sports by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19.
He said that the training would enable the players prepare adequately for the upcoming 2020/2021 domestic league season, after six months break.
He said that the management of the club provided hand washing basin, water, soap and sanitisers as directed by government.
Musa said the club was committed to ensuring that the team surpassed its previous records in the upcoming Premier League season.
“We have to prepare hard for our continental engagements and we are going to reinforce our team with right players,” Musa said.
The Media Officer of the club, Idris Malikawa, said that the club had released three players and would add at least five new players in preparation for the season.
Malikawa added that the reinforcement of the team would enable them to compete in the continental championship and win more laurels in the upcoming season.
NAN reports that Kano Pillars finished in sixth place last season after playing 25 matches before the suspension of the league. (NAN )
