Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso says he is delighted to have Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as part of his squad for the coming season.
The 21-year-old Super Eagles star was one of the most sought after players in the transfer market in recent months, but Napoli managed to land his signature for a club-record fee of €70 million.
Osimhen scored 13 goals in 27 appearances for Lille in the curtailed 2019-20 Ligue 1 season, attracting attention from around the European continent.
Gattuso feels the Nigerian will add a new dimension to their attack: “It could be, he has different characteristics than those we had,” the manager said at a press conference, as quoted by Tribal Football.
“He can give us the opportunity to attack spaces,” added the Neapolitan boss. “He has great physical strength and I think he can give us a big hand.”
Meanwhile, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has said that the future of Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly at the club depends on whether his suitors are prepared to pay a huge fee.
When given the chance to talk on Koulibaly’s future, De Laurentiis said, “You should ask Man United, City or PSG this question,” as quoted by Tribal Football
“In other words, those who can afford to pay certain amounts.” (African Football)
