Chelsea boss Frank Lampard plans to hand the captaincy to incoming signing Thiago Silva, it has been revealed.
Thiago Silva is leaving PSG and expected to sign for Chelsea this week.
Globo says Lampard will ask Thiago Silva to wear the armband for the 2020-21 season, taking it from Cesar Azpilicueta.
There is, however, no indication that Lampard has any issues with the Spanish defender, and, indeed, he could remain as captain with Thiago Silva picking up a deputy role. This is a possible outcome given the uncertainty surrounding Jorginho’s future.
Thiago Silva has rejected the chance to take up money-spinning moves to China and the Middle East in a bid to keep himself at the top level. (Tribal Football)
