National Chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC), Prince Vincent Okumagba, has charged the crew and the players of the Super Eagles to remain focussed and steadfast as they round up preparations for the all-important Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) double header against the Pharaohs of Egypt.
Speaking on phone with Daily Sports from Warri, Prince Okumagba pointed out that the games won’t be a tea party as it has never been in past encounters between both countries. On this weekend’s first leg in Kaduna, he warned that the visitors must not be treated with kid gloves from the referee’s first blast of the whistle to when he will draw the curtain. The NFSC boss therefore advised the players to imbibe vigilance as their watchword during the top-of-the-draw games.
His words: “The naked truth about this game against Egypt is that it would mark a watershed in Nigeria’s quest to pick the sole ticket of the group for Gabon 2017 AFCON football summit. The Eagles are much aware of the import of the match and have no alternative than to brace up decisively to take the bull by the horn against the over ambitious, slippery and invading Pharaohs from Egypt. In short, it is a winner-takes-all affair. This is one game the homers must wrap up with convincing victory in the first leg in Kaduna, March 25, so as to confidently take head-on the always hostile Egyptians in Alexandria after three days, precisely on March 29.”
