Coutinho Begs Klopp For Liverpool Return

By Daily Sports on June 16, 2020

Philippe Coutinho is ready to take a wage cut after personally asking Jurgen Klopp to re-sign him for Liverpool, reports say, reports metro.co.uk.The playmaker’s dream move to Barcelona is in tatters after just two years at the club.

Coutinho forced his way out of Liverpool mid-way through the 2018/19 campaign, but was shipped out on loan by Barcelona last summer and is up for sale.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Leicester City are just a few of the sides Coutinho has been offered to, but the Sunday World claim the Brazilian is desperate to return to Liverpool.

Coutinho has even made a personal plea to Klopp to green light his move and is willing to take a pay cut to make it happen.

Liverpool are lacking transfer funds at the moment due to the coronavirus pandemic and Klopp was forced to axe a move for Timo Werner.

The RB Leipzig striker was Klopp’s top target this summer, but the German will now join Chelsea after Liverpool chiefs told their manager they couldn’t afford Werner. Coutinho would be an expensive addition for Liverpool, as he earns a whopping £250,00 a week at Barcelona.

The La Liga giants are willing to pay a portion of his wages if they send Coutinho out on loan again, but Barcelona would prefer to sell the 28-year-old.

Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian has been tasked with sealing a move back to Liverpool and has made it clear his client will reduce his wages to do so. Joorabchian has repeatedly said Coutinho’s preference is to return to the Premier League where he produced his best form.

Liverpool re-invested the £142 million they received from the Coutinho sale brilliantly, buying centre-back Virgil van Dijk and goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

Since Coutinho’s exit, the Reds have won the Champions League and are just two victories away from lifting their first ever Premier League title. Bayern are poised to win the Bundesliga this season, but Coutinho is yet to play since the restart as he is still recovering from an ankle injury. (Metro UK)
