Nigerian born striker Michael Ikem Anwuli has signed for Ukrainian division one club Metallist 1925 after impressing the club handlers with some scintillating displays.
Anwuli, who is a versatile forward, is comfortable with both feet and his versatility attracted a number of European sides but it was Ukraine he landed and FC Metalist 1925 have offered to have him in their books.
At the moment though, due to the uncertainty occasioned by the outbreak of the coronavirus disease pandemic,FC Metalist have agreed to let the player leave on loan to Ukrainian division 2 side FC Volchansk and he is due for a return at the beginning of next season to Metallist.
Anwuli has hit the ground running already at Volchansk, banging in 4 goals in 6 games for the club against top division Ukranian clubsides. His goals have come in different forms, long range strikes, headers and tap-ins and this has left his agent Poskotin Andrew very excited.
"Ikem is a player who belongs to the top level. He is your dream striker. He's got pace, power and intelligence. I'm satisfied with how he has settled so far in Ukraine and there is more to come from him," Andrew says.
The Ukrainian agent is a well-known intermediary who has managed the careers of many top class players like Lucas Ventura and Sergei Romanov of Metallist 1925 as well as Brazilian great Luis Adriano.
"Mr Andrew has been a huge help to me since I arrived in Ukraine and I owe him a lot. He is a nice man who has my best interest at heart and I have to work harder to justify the confidence he has in me," Anwuli said.
Anwuli has had a rich footballing experience having played for top vlubs like Africa Sports of Côte d'Ivoire,Kassimpassaspor of Turkey and Anderlecht of Belgium . The 28-year old player credits his christian faith and beautiful wife Osas (who is a rising female gospel star in Nigeria) for his modest success in football.
"My wife is my rock in life. Her love and prayers have helped me to soldier on even when things didn't look good. My motivation is to build a solid future for me and her and our little son," the ebony-skinned player adds.
Another major influence in the rise of Anwuli is Nigeian football intermediary Mr Sunday Oke (CEO of Eseosa World Concepts management company) who sponsored the player's movement to Ukraine single handed, committing the vast resources involved in a foreign travel and cementing his desire to spend big to help top quality players fulfil their dreams.
"I was sufficiently pleased by the quality of Anwuli when I saw him. His discipline level as well is very high and its a pleasure to work with such a player," Mr Oke,who manages professional players in several countries around the world, said.
Mr Oke and Mr Andrew are working together in a solid partnership to develop and market young and talented footballers from all over the world to a successful professional career.
Anwuli has aspirations to turn out for the Super Eagles one day and his super talent could give him the opportunity to see that dream come true. "I want to play for the Super Eagles and for Gernot Rohr the Technical aadviser and I know that it is my form in Europe that will decide that. I am ready,"Anwuli says with confidence.
