Anthony Joshua has revealed that he injured his knee whilst running in the woods but insists he will recover quickly, reports metro.co.uk.
The 30-year-old was on crutches and wore a large leg brace whilst attending a Black Lives Matter protest in his hometown of Watford at the weekend.
Joshua was due to defend his IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO world titles against Kubrat Pulev this month but the fight has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A rescheduled date for the fight against Pulev has not been announced but Joshua has confirmed that his preparations are not likely to be affected.
“Respect for the supporters concerned about my leg,” Joshua said in a statement.
“I buss my knee running miles in the woods.
“Still training, still active, still punching. Two weeks to [go], then it’s off.”
Joshua also hit back at those who criticised his decision to not observe social distancing guidelines during his Black Lives Matter protest.
“I understand the concerns in regards to social distancing,” said Joshua.
“However, I hope those who are complaining about social distancing have the same energy about those gathering for a day at the beach [and] those going to the park for a picnic.” (AFP)
