2016 Rio Olympics: D’Tigers group worries Ahmedu

By Daily Sports on March 16, 2016

FIBA Africa Zone 3 President, Sam Ahmedu, has described Nigeria’s group in the men’s basketball event of the 2016 Rio Olympics as tough and urged D’Tigers to begin preparations for the games.

At a draw held at the International Basketball Federation’s House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland, on Friday, African champions D’Tigers were drawn in Group B alongside Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Lithuania and one of the three teams that will qualify through the Olympic Qualifying Tournaments.

Champions USA were drawn in Group A with Australia, China, Venezuela and two teams to be decided at the OQTs, which would hold from July 4 to 10.

“As a matter of fact, none of the two groups is easy. Group A is also not an easy draw. And then our group is even worse than Group A. In Group B, Brazil are hosts; Argentina, Spain and Lithuania are world powers,” he said. (TVC)
