Kalidou Koulibaly has reportedly emerged as a shock addition to Newcastle United’s transfer wishlist.

According to Foot Mercato, the Magpies are interested in signing the Senegal international.

Newcastle United are set for a huge financial injection following news that the club are close to a big-money takeover. This has subsequently sparked several transfer rumours and the club are said to be eying Koulibaly as one of their marquee signings.

Koulibaly, who has attracted strong interest from Newcastle’s English Premier League rials Manchester United over the last year, is valued at around €80 million.

The 28-year-old has been one of the best defenders in world football over the last few seasons and the Napoli defender has been named in the Serie A team of the season for the past four years.

Koulibaly has scored 10 goals in 233 appearances for Napoli and is contracted to the Italian club until 2023. (African Football)
