Veteran athletics coach Tobias Igwe a.k.a Toblow has demanded that his gratuity be paid to him without delay by the Abia State Government so that he could use it to meet up distressing family needs.
Igwe, who was Assistant Director in the Abia State Sports Council until he was retired by the immediate past administration of Chief Theodore Orji, stated: “I spilled my blood while serving in Abia State and could still not comprehend why I’m being treated like a leper by a government that I presume should protect me.”
Igwe said that since government is a continuum, he expects the current administration in the state headed by Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu to revisit the issue of his sudden retirement for the sake of justice.
“I am not asking for silver or gold, all I’m asking from the Abia State Government is the payment of my gratuity,” he said.
The veteran coach lamented that he is at the risk of ejection by his landlord for owing several months of rent.
Toblow is presently with national coaches in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, training Team Nigeria athletes for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
