Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs this evening settled for a 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane in the Barclays Premiership with Aaron Ramsey scoring first, and Alexis Sanchez saving the day for the Gunners. The match saw them show character, even though their chances of winning the Premier League had been damaged, long before today.
Francis Couquelin would make the biggest highlight of the match, as he got a red-carded in 55 minutes, after a “moment of madness”, where he slid on Harry Kane after being already booked. But it is said that Arsenal played the first 55 minutes of the match with discipline, focus and commitment, that had been missing for recent weeks. They fell 2-1 to Tottenham, with goals from Toby Alderweireid in 60 minutes and Harry Kane in 62 minutes after Couquelin’s send-off, but got an equaliser from Sanchez on 75 minutes.
Elsewhere at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City beat Aston Villa 4-0 with Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero (brace) and Roger Sterling getting on the score-sheet. All four goals came in the second half. In Stamford Bridge, Bertrand Trader looked like he would win the match for Chelsea after opening scoring against Stoke City in 39 minutes, but the 85th minute equaliser from Biram Diouf changed the final scoreline of the game. Newcastle United fell 3-1 at home to AFC Bournemouth in a match they initially led 2-0, with goals from Steven Taylor and Joshua King. Ayoze Peter made it 2-1 for Newcastle, but Charlie Daniels sealed the game for Bournemouth, scoring the third.
Everton also lost at home to West Ham United by 2-3. Romelu Lukaku and Aaron Lennon scored for Everton, initially leading the game 2-0, but the comebacks began for West Ham United, through Michael Antonio in 79 minutes, Diafra Sakho in 82 minutes and Dimitri Poyet won it on the stroke of 90, for West Ham.
