El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri are fired up for today’s NPFL week four game against Lobi in Makurdi, the players having been paid their February salary at the weekend.
Officials and players of the team were in high spirits when they arrived Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Monday ahead today’s match. The Borno State team is well rested having not played at the weekend due to Akwa United’s CAF Confederation Cup assignment.
The management paid the players their February salary immediately the team returns from Umuahia last week Friday.
According to the team’s Media Manager, Prince Obaseki Anthony, the management is putting everything in place to make sure that players’ welfare is well in the front burner.
“It is part of our management plans to make sure our players’ salaries are paid 24th or 25th of every month. We have put behind us our lost two matches and thank God that we have a good coach that will lead us to the promise land,” he said.
Obaseki maintains that Coach Ladan Bosso is a sound tactician, stating that the two games so far played under his tutelage show that the Maiduguri-based team would make it. Hear him: “The league is still young, and, as the coach would repeatedly say, there is no cause for alarm; we are on course, Obaseki informs.
“We have strong team just that it is a new side, I believe from the match this Wednesday you will see the new El-Kanemi Warriors in action. We in Makurdi as wounded lions and you know what that means the players knew how important this game means to us; our fans in Makurdi will be there to give us more support today. It is going be a tough match.”
