Reps Order Probe Of Death Of Footballer Martins Chineme

By Daily Sports on March 18, 2020

The House of Representatives has mandated its Committee on Sports to investigate the cause of death of a footballer, Martins Chineme, and also audit the health facilities provided by the league management company for league matches across the country.

The late footballer who was a member of Nasarawa United FC slumped on the pitch and died during a match in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

One of the lawmakers Dachung Bagos, raised the motion while expressing his disappointment that if proper medical equipment was in place, the footballer would have lived.

The House observed a minute of silence in honor of late footballer and further urged the Nigeria Football Federation/League Management Company (NFFLMC) to ensure that first aid and emergency response with ambulance services are on standby at all match events in line with international best practices.
