Algeria international Riyad Mahrez says Manchester City are hungry for more success after reaching the FA Cup quarter-finals.
The English champions’ focus was the key factor behind the win over Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday night according to Mahrez.
Mahrez played the entire match as the Citizens secured a 1-0 win against the English Championship side in the fifth-round game.
The attacker and his teammates were coming on the back of their Carabao Cup final win against Aston Villa, the Hillsborough triumph kept City on course for what would be a third piece of silverware this season.
“It was tough. We knew it would be tough, but we made the job. Sometimes we have to take the win like this and we’re happy to go through,” Mahrez told the club’s official website.
“All the team are very focused on every game; the manager makes sure we are focused in every competition. We are very strong mentally and we’ll try and win as much as we can.”
“We knew they’d sit back, and we had to pass the ball between the lines and move a lot. We know we have good players on the ball, and we’d create chances,” he added.
“There’s still a long way to go, but we are trying to win every game. That’s how we are as a team. We are going to try all the time to play good and win.” (African Football)
