Players Union Mourns Untimely Death Of Remo Star Tiyamu Kazeem, Calls For Probe

The National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers (NANPF), has expressed shock over the untimely death of one of her members, Remo Stars Football Club (RSFC) Assistant Captain and Defender Tiyamu Kazeem (Kaka), who was reportedly killed by a policeman from the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) Ogun State Command.

The incident occurred last Saturday afternoon (February 22) in Sagamu while Kazeem was driving with one of his teammates, Sanni Abubakar.

“The Nigeria Players Union condemns the actions of the police officers in strong terms and calls for a thorough investigation of the incident and vows to get to the root of the matter by ensuring justice is done,” a statement signed by NANPF AGS Communication Danladi Musa said.

The Union, according to the statement, “has already requested  its Ogun State Council officials to liaise with team to get more information on the unfortunate incident, while in the meantime the Union on behalf of all Nigeria Footballers commiserates with the management and players of Remo Stars FC and Family of late Tiyamu Kazeem, may his soul rest in peace.”
