Kwara Ladies, Ubakala secure NWFL Pro-League tickets

Kwara Ladies Football Club emerged the overall winner of the 2020 Nigeria Women Amateur League (NWAL) Championship concluded on Sunday, 9/2/2020, at the University of Benin sports ground in Benin City, Edo State.

The Kwara team secured promotion ticket with a 2-0 victory against Omidiran Babes on the final day clash.

Soliu Suliat’s goal put the llorin side in front in the 51st minute, while Laws Hadiza secured the assurance goal for her side in the 68th minute of the hotly contested clash.

The victory sealed one of the promotion tickets to the NWFL Pro-League for the Kwara Ladies.

In yet another promotion ticket decider, Ubakala Queens pulled a stunner against earlier table toppers, Moje Queens, with three unreplied goals in the concluding match of the day.

The Umuahia-based side scored the match opener through Chinenye Chukwu in the first minute in what would go down in history as the fastest goal of the championship.

Bassey Orok increased the lead for her side to two in the 57th minute, while Chizoba Orji iced the came in the 71st minute to make it 3-0 win and gave the team the second promotion ticket as runners-up.

Although the Umuahia side tied on seven points with third-placed Moje Queens, the Abia state side have better superior goal difference.
